Smartphone users who took photos can be turned to 3D images in no time. Users can convert 2D images to 3D in real-time. It is pretty simple and importantly doesn't require specific photographic skill sets. It takes seconds to convert images into 3D dimensions. Recent days Photography has gone to another level with the highest level of immersion and upgraded technology. Digital Photography is playing a key role in bringing the highest quality resolution images as we like.
There is a provision in the Photos feature of Facebook that converts 2D images to 3D. This feature was launched in the year 2018. In order to fetch advantages of this feature, Facebook users were required to capture their favorite images in dual-lens cameras using their smartphones. Recently Facebook has added algorithmic updates of this feature with a deep estimation of the image to be converted.
Facebook researchers are trained in Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) on million pairs of images that accompany depth maps and leveraged mobile-optimization techniques in the new system. The New framework also supports the conversion of texture inpainting and also geometry capturing of 2D images into 3D in an automated way.
Users will get instant notifications after the conversion happened in seconds. Researchers are also working on creating high quality immersive 3D experiences using machine learning techniques. Researchers are also planning to demonstrate this at SIGGRAPH 2020 conference which is going to held in August.
