Educational opportunities for women has been an important part of national endeavor since independence.In the field of education even though this endeavor's significant results still there is lot of scope to develop adult literacy in India. So as to improve literacy rate the government of India launched National Literacy Mission for women in 1988.This Mission mainly works for the imparting functional literacy to women.

These campaigns will not only enhance their ability in solving their own family issues but also helps in updating new skills. women are communicating how they have started feeling more confident ,how their articulation has improved and how they become more discerning during these campaigns and they have shown how women have been empowered individually and also collectively as a group in these participations .Even these campaigns are also spreading the knowledge about health care and nutrition information also.
