Kendriya Vidyalaya , with a strong pursuit of national identity and national integration created a distinct identity in the field of education which is characterized by its large size having more than 818 schools which covers 29 states and Union Territories.The North east has 75 schools and Jammu & Kashmir 25 schools indicative of the concern of KVS.

Union Minister Ram Shankar Katheria said "In the Educational sector Kendriya vidyalaya has strong identity and it is experiences at the time of admissions and Large number of MPs received requests for admission in to Kendriyavidyalaya school admissions". MPs till recently received six coupons but now it has been increased to 10 students. In his previous term as MP Agraurban and rural areas had received up to 450 request letters for admission.
At an event to mark Kendriyavidyalaya Foundation day 120 teachers has been felicitated across the country with various awards .KV Sangathan Commissioner Santosh Mal later told reporters that there are 1,122 Kendriya Vidyalayas at present in the country while three are functioning abroad. He also said that 54 new schools were sanctioned in March last year of which 32 have already opened.
