The National Achievement Survey Conducted by NCERT revealed the performance of Children across various states in India with different Subjects. Children in Kerala ranked first in reading Comprehension scores while Uttarpradesh was topped in Mathematics and Daman and Diu was Number one in Social Science and General Science.Girls Performed exceptionally well across the country in Reading Comprehension.While there is a little margin of difference between Girls and Boys in Other Subjects like Mathematics,General Science and Social Studies.

The Survey is conducted by NAS under the Government's Flagship Programme Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA) and Rasthtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan(RMSA) to evaluate the performance of children in Rural and Urban areas across the country.The survey has upheld some conventionally held beliefs and over turned some.They found the performance of rural students in General science was significantly higher than that of Urban students.
The NCERT Joint Director Prof S Rajaram told that "This survey will pave the way to get down and improve in the long run and the survey results are looking diagnostic.We need to come up with the counter measures to improve the knowledge and scores as well.We are right-positioning ourselves to state where we stand even when we are finding sweeping remarks about schooling doing badly."
