Google has announced the launch of the Google for startups accelerator program for women founder focused led startup program in India. This is the first time Google has launched this kind of program for Women.

This program will have two cohorts this year. Each Cohort will support 20 women founders. Google will select 20 women led startups for this program. The first among the two cohorts will begin from today. This program will focus on the early stage to a Series A startup.
About 6 percent of the funding raised by the startup ecosystem in India is going to be Women led-startups.It would come down to 1.5 percent if the company has a male founder. In order to reduce this gap Google came with the idea of launching an women led-startup accelerator.
The main focus of launching a women led-startup accelerator program is on mentoring, hiring, building a networking and community, capital raising. In a survey almost 48 percent of women said that they are facing problem in finding a right mentor. There is nothing like a peer group that allows you to connect and grow.
Google so far has had 6 cohorts under women led-startup accelerator program. Over 100 companies has raised over $2 billion and created 12,000 jobs. One in every 10 companies has raised $100 million in this Google accelerator program.
