As according to the report 132 million boys are currently out of school. In 130 out of 142 countries Boys are more likely to repeat primary grades.In 57 countries 10 year old boys are lack in mastering reading skills. Adolescent boys are far behind in Secondary level. Girls are more likely to attend the school in many countries and boys are at higher risk to complete their education.

Various reasons behind boys discontinuing from education includes Poverty,Need to work, Harsh discipline, Corporal Punishment and other forms of violence along with Gendered norms also has negative impact on boys academic achievement that leads to absenteeism and dropouts.
In many countries boys are failing to complete their education levels and having poorer learning outcomes in both primary and secondary schools. Previously boys disadvantage is mostly notable in high or upper middle income countries people and now this situation is shifted to low and middle income countries people.
The Right to Education remains unfulfilled for many boys. Many Primary and Secondary School age children are out of school. Among which half of them are boys. Covid-19 pandemic has also increased the number of dropouts in schools.In 2020 it is estimated that 259 million children are out of school out of which 132 million are boys.
Prolonged School closures and longer impact of Covid-19 has increased gender disparities and more school dropouts. The report comprises of practices such as Regular streaming of classes, gender segregation and transformation, low motivation, under achievement and disengagement, mobility and discrimination are various factors that lead to educational dropouts.
Several Initiatives need to be taken to address the learning needs of children. Need to provides equal access to education and inclusive learning environments with traditional practices which is safe and inclusive for all learners that prevents dropout from Education.
