All Indian Universities will now have an Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) in which students will have academic accounts or credits. The Academic Bank of Credits concept was accepted by New Education Policy(NEP) 2020.As according to this students will leave a course and join it after a certain period of time where they have left. The movement of students within a university,implying once course to another across the universities from one institute to other is also possible with ABC.

The movement of students with in the university will be based on the "Credits" they have earned. Academic Bank of credits is calculating one hour of theory or one hour of tutorial or two hours of laboratory work per week for one semester. Each Semester is about 13-15 weeks long. Internship credit should be one credit per one week per subject to a maximum of six subjects as according to the University Grants Commission rules.
Students will have flexibility to choose the entire course as per their choice. If a student does that without failing in a particular subject domain and earns the total credits required for a UG degree to be awarded by a university. The awarded degree may be specified as Bachelor of. Liberal Education ( B.LE). The credits earned will be valued for a maximum period of seven years or as specified separately for different disciplines by ABC to allow the redemption of credits after the date of earning such credits.
Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) will provide wide variety of services including credit verification,credit accumulation, credit transfer, Credit redemption and degree authentication. It holds the pattern of commercial bank for financial purposes. with students as account holders.The University Grants Commission had constituted a committee to develop a detailed scheme along with a specific implementation strategy on an innovative concept. The aim of ABC is to permit students to choose a pace for their studies along with the associative logistics and cost.
