CBSE is planning to implement New Digital Affiliation system for Schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to restructure the school affiliation system and making the process completely digital based on data analytics with less human intervention.The new system is expected to come in to effect from March 1. The changes were made as according to  recommendations of systemic education reforms laid in The New Education Policy (NEP).

CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripati said "The CBSE Affiliation System has been online since 2006 and now it will be completely Digitized. The restructuring will help in establishing ease of doing business in the CBSE Affiliation system to attain the goal of minimum government ,maximum governance, automated and data driven decisions to achieve transparency and accountability in the entire process. This restructuring helps to achieve quick and disposal of applications with in specific time bound. The Board will soon come up with the detailed guidelines "

A detailed document comprises of systematic online procedure for affiliation, documents required for affiliation application along with Standard Operating Procedures for inspection and detailed guidelines for inspection committee along with videos for various process will be released soon by CBSE.As per the revised system Every year the application window for Fresh Affiliation and upgradation will open three times i.e from March 1 to March 30, June 1 to June 30 and September 1 to September 30.

Need to have procured digital signatures of school from the authorized Service Provider or Aadhar based signatures. Also need to upload mandatory documents such as no objection certificate, land certificate, safety certificate and certificate by district education officer are prerequisites required for affiliation.

After the online submission of necessary documents submitted by the school  the CBSE will analyze as accordance with the laws and inspection committee will be constituted immediately for the purpose of inspection of schools. The inspection committee will visit schools on any of the dates mentioned in the letter.

Earlier CBSE has introduced a facility for virtual inspection of schools for up-gradation of affiliation in the month of August due to COVID-19 pandemic. CBSE board is also planning to setup a facilitation centre to address the queries, problems of schools, Inspection committee related information for virtual inspection.

CBSE board had revamped all the norms for granting affiliation to schools in 2018 leaving the infrastructure audit on states ad limiting own role to academic quality monitoring. They have formulated the affiliation by laws in 1998. CBSE has around 24930 affiliated schools across the country and abroad with more than 2 crore students and 10 lakh teachers.
