Diabetic Retinopathy Certification course was launched in Guwahati

Certificate Course in evidence based management of Diabetic Retinopathy(CCDR Cycle 1)  was announced in Guwahati on Sunday. This is the first course of its kind with a duration of four months on PAN India program to train set of doctors which was associated with various associated complications on Diabetics along with the usage of latest technology and cutting edge national and international guidelines.

Diabetic Retinopathy

This course is mainly aimed to design and deliver Public Health Foundation of India  (PHFI) and to build capacity amongst primary care physicians for the prevention of Diabetic  Retinopathy by various counselling and referral methods along with address health hazard management

The academic partners of this program are Dr Mohan's Diabetes Educational Academy(DMDEA)  Chennai along with Madhurai's Aravind Eye care system and supported by The Queen Elizabeth  Diamond Jubilee Trust (QEDJT).

Diabetic Retinopathy is a neurovascular disorder which affects minute blood vessels of retina and causes painless loss of vision and blindness. It almost counts 3 percent of blindness in India. It is a very important cause of visual loss of productive life's of people.It occurs in both Type1 and Type2 diabetics and in Type1 it is almost 80% and in Type 2 will develop Diabetic Retinopathy after 15 years of duration of diabetics.
