The Supreme Court of India gave permission for Medical Council of India (MCI) and clears way for Conducting Common Medical Entrance Examination for admission in to various undergraduate medical courses like MBBS and also BDS across the country.

The Apex Court Bench of Justice R.V.Raveendran and Justice A.K.Patnail passed these orders and told that CMET was not being held because the case was pending before the court .The Court said “No One can come to us with rules and regulations and seek our approval” Framing the rules and regulations for conducting the examinations as it had already been approved by central government .”Frame the rules and regulations, notify and implement them . If they are challenged, then the matter will come before us,” the court said . The present Entrance examination system was aimed in reducing the multiplicity of medical exams and when council raised doubts against the irregularities and litigation's The court said it is an imaginary fear.
