Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched a new four year Bachelor of Science program in Engineering and Medical Sciences on Thursday This course was first of its kind in the country. IIT Madras will offer interdisciplinary approach to students in designing Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Life saving medical devices, drug discovery.along with Fundamental medical research

The main aim of introducing new course by Madras University is to lay the foundation for best training activities to all physician scientists in India so that they can apply technology effectively in their clinical practice. It also allows to prepare young scientists and engineers with the necessary skills to advance medical research .
IIT Madras has tied-up and signs MoU with half a dozen with various medical institutions, premier hospitals.IIT Madras is also offering Ph.D, and M.S by research degrees for doctors. The department is also offering M.S in Medical Sciences and Engineering and Ph.D for Science and Engineering graduates This approach will not only improve the essential health outcomes but also leverages the Engineering and Medical Knowledge of latest emerging new technologies
