The Andhra Pradesh Education department took a unique initiative to make schools more safe and secure to students.A Set of Standard Operating Systems (SOPs) has been designed to ensure safety and security of students by keeping a tab on bullying and sexual harassment.

This system will be very much helpful for girls, while teachers and staff members of each and every school are being susceptible on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act 2012, There will be special training on child protection norms, as per POCSO act and child sexual abusive prevention for students from the teachers and staff members.
The main issue is the lack of reporting in a comprehensive pervasiveness of harassment or abuse and we need to break this silence and need to discuss these with children so that they will come forward and report regarding any kind of abuse or harassment.
The safety guidelines have been prepared under the new initiative to protect the children from abuse or harassment. A School safety ,child abuse monitoring and school complaint committees headed by the principal will address the issue in their respective schools. There will be an independent person with the experience in child right issues will also involve in child abuse monitoring committee.
There will be a special designed complaints box available in every school so that students will lodge complaints on their problems and bad experiences easily. In case of complaint against teachers or other staff , a separate enquiry will be conducted to protect the victims complainant's identity.
Students are also prepared so that they can seek support if required. Display of Posters on child safety along with phone numbers will be done prominently on all schools. A Mandal level committee comprises of Tahsildar and other officials would scrutinize the complaints and necessary action will be taken by the competent authority within 15 days span of time.
Regular meetings with teachers and committee members would be conducted to discuss the issues related to school children safety and security and then decide necessary appropriate actions on it. Specially trained teachers and prominent persons would conduct special sessions in both public and private schools on various topics like untold sexual harassment, Good Touch Bad Touch, Psychological counseling, household harassment and trafficking of children for sexual exploitation in schools.
Each and every student need to follow the guidelines an the safety and security measures issued by the concerned school management, principals and teachers. Senior students could discuss with the younger children and create awareness under the guidance of teachers on sexual harassment and bullying.
Students should use complaint box to inform school management regarding various issues they are facing regarding abuse, sexual harassment and in case if they observe supply of drugs, tobacco or any other related substances inside or outside school premises.
The ultimate objective is to make schools a safer place and free from all kinds of harassment and vices. In order to make this a successful initiative complete cooperation and support is required from teachers, staff, students and parents
