Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will announce the sixth edition of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Indian Rankings 2021 of Indian Education Institutions online today @ 12 PM. The announcement will be webcast on Ministry's official website nirfindia.org ,Youtube channel and several other portals.NIRF is the ministry of Education's college and university ranking excercise which was launched in the year 2015 and was declared in 2016.

There are several categories like Overall, Management, Engineering, University, Pharmacy, College, Medical, Law, Architecture and Dental etc..in which colleges are ranked. The NIRF Indian Ranking Parameters and the weighted averages adopted to derive the rankings of various categories. The Parameters adopted by NIRF to rank the colleges, universites and institutes which includes Learning and Resources, Teaching, Perception, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation outcomes, Outreach and inclusivity IIT Madras has been first in Engineering Category for all the five years since NIRF's inception.
The NIRF methodology is to rank instituions across the country. It draws from the overall recommendations from the core committee setup by the Education Ministry. It identifies the best universities, institutions and rank them by identifying the broad parameters. The number of institutes participating in NIRF rankings has increased every year. Initially in 2016 the institutes were ranked in only four categories and now the categories increased to nine in 2019.
