Teenagers experience Depression and anxiety with Poor Sleep says Study

According to Psychology and Psychiatry Researchers have found that Teenagers who have poor sleep may experience poor mental health in the later part of life. The research focused on sleep quality and the quantity of sleep from teenagers and found a significant relationship between mental health issues and poor sleep. 

Teenagers Sleeping Hours

The research was done among 4,790 participants. They found the teenagers who experienced depression reported both poor quality and quantity of sleep. They noticed Teenagers with anxiety had only poor quality of sleep. The researcher shows that there is a significant link between Teenagers' sleep and mental health.It also highlights the teenagers who has depression and anxiety had experienced poor sleep. The difference in the average amount of sleep between those who experienced depression which amounts to going to sleep 30 minutes. later each night.

There were some participants who responded hugely very less quality and quanitity of sleep as they want to sleep more for wellbeing. According to study Teenagers were asked to self respond on quality and quantity of sleep over a series of issues. The researchers found that Teenagers on average are getting 8 hours of sleep on the school working days and over nine and half hours sleep on weekends.

The Researchers had found that Teenagers who are sleeping less than 7 and half hours are in to moving towards depression and anxiety mode. The National Sleep Foundation recommends teenagers aged between 14-17 years typically need 8-10 hours of sleep.
