UGC relaxed criteria for women and disabled students who are pursuing Mphil and PhD Degrees.

Union Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to relax criteria for women and disabled students who are pursuing MPhil and Phd Degrees. According to suggestions made by Human Resource Development minister  Smriti Irani  On Tuesday UGC has taken this positive step to empower women and also to encourage disabled students in pursuing higher degrees.

According to this relaxation criteria  Women and Students with more than 40% of disability will now get extra one year to submit their MPhil Theses and two years to submit their Phd Theses. In addition to above Women who are pursuing these degrees will also be provided maternal leave up to 240 days.

If women scholar needs to relocate to other place during her studies or in case of marriage she is allowed her research data to be transferred to the intended university as according to the conditions that are required to follow. The research work doesn't pertain to guide any parent institution's secured project or from any other resource. It is the responsibility of the scholar to give her credit to Parent institution and for the research which was already done.
UGC has also decided that people There is an exemption for minimum eligibility state eligibility for assistant professors or equivalent posts in universities who has registered for MPhil and PhD Programs before July 11 2009 will be governed by earlier regulations
